Fresh Garlic Scapes

Garlic scapes are elongated green shoots that emerge from the garlic plant before it enters into the flowering stage. They have a similar appearance to chives or green onions, but possess a delicate garlic taste. These versatile scapes can be used fresh, frozen, or dehydrated. To make them easier to eat, blanching them for 3-5 minutes is recommended. They can be incorporated in a variety of dishes such as stir-fries, pestos, grilling, pickling, and as a seasoning similar to garlic powder.
